President's day Lone Pine trip Part I

Bundu Trek journeyed to Lone Pine California and the Alabama hills over the President's day weekend to visit the filming locations of many classic Hollywood movies and television shows.

Lone Pine is the location of the Manzanar relocation camp from WW2 and also the Cerro Gordo mining town high in the mountains.  We visited both places.  Due to heavy snow in the higher elevations we were not able to visit the famous bristle cone pines, the oldest living things on the planet.

Our first stop when coming to Lone Pine was the new visitor's center.  This is an excellent resource to obtain information on the area and attractions that can be visited.

Next we headed to the movie museum to learn about the movies filmed in the area.

The museum is friendly, well laid out and full of fun and interesting movie memorabilia.  I highly recommend it!
